Photography is storytelling through light

Hi, I’m Ocie Clelland—a photographer and educator based in New York City. I believe photography is more than just taking pictures—it’s about capturing the energy, emotion, and story behind every moment.

My journey started with a love for both teaching and photography. By day, I guide young children as a preschool teacher, and by passion, I capture the beauty of people, places, and movement through my camera. Teaching photography became a natural step for me—it allows me to share not only the technical side of the craft, but also the creative spark that makes every image unique.

At Ocie Clelland Photography, my style blends artistry and storytelling. From portraits to dance to landscapes, I focus on creating images that feel alive and timeless. I also love teaching others how to find their own voice with a camera—whether that means exploring composition, shooting in the city at night, or learning how to break the “rules” to create something truly original.

When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll usually find me enjoying good music, exploring New York’s hidden gems, or testing out new gadgets.
